PROGRAMS AGAINST VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
The Counselor/Advocate Program is
committed to
ending the isolation of victims/survivors of sexual assault
and battering. Offers a 24-hour crisis hotline (545-0800 or
1-888-337-0800), counseling, support groups, and legal and
medical advocacy for survivors and their friends and
families. The Program makes referrals through list of
campus & community mental health agencies and therapists in
private practice. All services are free and confidential
and offered to all campus & community women. The Program
aims to support and empower survivors as they regain control
of their lives.
The Educator/Advocate Program works
toward
decreasing the high incidence of violence against women
through preventative education. Through workshops,
community organizing, and other educational programming, we
seek to expose and challenge the personal attitudes,
societal values, and institutional structures that reinforce
and perpetuate men’s violence against women.
Educator/Advocates design and facilitate workshops on a
variety of topics, such as rape awareness, battering or
abuse in relationships, media images, teen dating violence,
and many more.
