Professional DevelopmentThe Western Massachusetts Writing Project offers professional development programs for teachers that create opportunities for meaningful learning based on research, shared practice and continuous reflection on our teaching. Our professional development model, emphasizing a "teachers teaching teachers" paradigm, engages educators in the learning process and empowers them with current research and teaching strategies they can implement immediately in their classrooms. Our professional development model strives to build a collegial environment where teachers become expert learners and share their expertise with one another and their students. Our aim is to support teacher leaders who will together toward long-term change to transform school culture and classroom instructional practice. The Western Massachusetts Writing Project is an authorized provider for NCLB and included in the catalog of reform models for Comprehensive School Reform.
