Understanding Union Contracts and the Role of Supervisors

Supervisors at UMass work in a heavily unionized environment, with over 90% of all employees working under union contracts, including many supervisors.  It can be very useful to have a working knowledge of the various agreements that apply to your staff.  In this session, we will focus on the basic structure of a Collective Bargaining Agreement, and offer a review of non-faculty contracts, in particular: PSU/MTA, AFSCME and USA/MTA. You will also learn and apply contract administration methods to issues and questions that you bring from your workplace.
