Sustained Intergroup Dialogues

February 17 - March 30, 2012

A Five College Event

Many people who attended one of the Days of Dialogue events in the Fall of 2009, 2010, and 2011 expressed an interest in attending more dialogues, and much of the feedback we received said people were interested in longer discussions to be able to explore these topics  in more detail.

The Five College IGD Planning Committee is excited to announce that we are scheduling three six-week dialogues this winter/spring, one each on Class and Rank, Gender in the Workplace and Race and Ethnicity. The three hour sessions will run on the following Fridays from 9am - noon: February 17, February 24, March 2, March 9, March 16, and March 30. To insure the quality of all the dialogues, the expectation is that you will attend all six sessions.

We will also be offering a pilot sustained dialogue for Religion, Spirituality, and Secularity at Mt. Holyoke College in late March. More information will be coming but if you are interested in this pilot dialogue, please contact Margaret Arsenault, marsenau@admin.umass.edu.

The deadline for applying is February 3, 2012 and spaces are limited.  You are strongly encouraged to let us know of your interest as soon as possible. We hope that you will take advantage of this unique opportunity, and look forward to hearing form you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Margaret Arseanult at marsenau@admin.umass.edu.

If you wish to become more involved with IGD:

The sustained dialogues are an opportunity for in-depth exploration of these particular topic areas, with staff and faculty from across the five colleges, to learn and experience more about Intergroup Dialogue.  If you attend one of these sustained dialogues, you may also have the opportunity to attend the 2012 IGD Institute later in the year (June) to learn skills to facilitate dialogues on your campus. This is not a requirement for attending, but an opportunity to become more involved with the IGD initiative.
