Ten-week group for parents of children under age 12 to assist them

Healthy Families (for young,
first-time parents -- 20 & under)
Provides a free home visiting program for first time
young parents (20 & under). "A Home Visitor is someone you can trust who will get to know you
and your baby and will help you build your parenting skills, answer questions you may
not feel comfortable asking others, and work with you and your family to strengthen
relationships. With a Healthy Families Home Visitor by your side, you can find
the support and information that will help you become the parent you want to be."
Healthy families can also help their clients find the right services and programs
for young parents in their community, like day care, health insurance, job placement
agencies, continuing education, and more.

Child SSI/Public Benefits Information Line (Dept. of Public Health)
Child SSI/Public assists children with special care needs. They
provide information and technical assistance for disabled/blind children, including Medicaid and
managed care issues. SSI also provides information and referral for DPH case management services.
Child Support Enforcement (MA Dept. of Revenue)
Information for parents who have child support cases pending with the
Department of Revenue. The website has information on the process in the court system, payments,
frequently asked questions, and more. Forms are also available, including an application to apply
for services.

Lutheran Community Services of Southern New England
Directs three programs for single teenage and older
mothers and their children. All offer transitional living in a supportive environment for
low income and often homeless mothers who, with the help of staff, gain the skills necessary to
manage life successfully when they leave.

Transitional Assistance
Offers financial aid, food stamps, and Medicaid to women with dependent
children (AFDC). Money is available on an emergency basis for housing with limitations.

Attorney General's Victim Compensation Program
Can help pay for medical and dental expenses, counseling expenses, loss
of income due to disability or death, and funeral or burial expenses up to $4000. VCP is designed
to assist victims of crime recovery from the consequences of violence. The crime must have
been committed in Massachusetts and reported to the police within five days unless good cause for
delay. Victims and family members can submit claims within three years of the crime. Call
for application form.
