  • A Guide to Donating Your Papers
As of March 2002 the VWHC has published A Guide to Donating Your Papers. Generously financed by Five Colleges, Inc., the Guide adapts the language of The Society of American Archivists to the unique needs of our special enterprise.

Graphic Designer Alison Bell provided invaluable assistance, and the Sophia Smith Collection (Smith College) furnished riveting images. We applaud the cooperative spirit and collaboration of librarians and archivists in the Valley as well as the administrative efforts of Kaymarion Raymond, Marla Miller, and Kathleen Nutter.

  • Transcription of Oral Histories Funded
The Women's Fund of Western Massachusetts Grant funds the transcription of oral history tapes. We have taped 35 interviews with 41 women and men. More interviews are in progress and being transcribed.

Oral history volunteers are an enthusiastic and hard-working group, composed of community volunteers and graduate students of Marla and Joyce. We are deeply thankful to them.

  • Research Endeavors
An energetic group of community volunteers, undergraduate and graduate students undertake an array of research projects -- some completed, others ongoing. In our research, the Topic Worksheet list of 500+ groups and many more individuals connected with Western Massachusetts women's movement since the mid-1960s is indispensable. It is a work-in-progress, updated and corrected as we proceed.

Future Projects
As we move ahead, we are particularly eager to collect the information, stories, and documents of working-class women, women of color, and women of alternative gender and sexual orientations. We will be focusing on women and the creative arts, beginning with feminist, lesbian and progressive women's musical work.
