Spring 2002 Rep Meeting
March 24, 2002
- Roll Call
Present: No Nukes, Incorrects, Visionaries, Womynrising, Resisters, Red Scare
Excused: Power Houses, Resolutes, and Freedom Chicks
- Budget
Per player dues maintained at $10.00. Teams need to pay to Amy Butcher as soon as possible - if making out a check be sure to make it to: Mary Vazquez Women's Softball League
Umpire Fees: $35.00 per game

- Games Per Week
We will be scheduling the same amount of games as last year (1.5/week). The season will begin June 3rd.
- Teams New?
Individuals will be referred to those teams wishing new players. Teams submitted a description of their team to be distributed at the Pride March. Any team that has not submitted a paragraph describing their team can still do so by emailing it to MzMic@aol.com.
- Schedule
Irene offered to once again do the schedule. Please remember that the last team listed is the home team that is the team responsible for paying the umpire.
- Tournament
The tournament will be schedule for Easthampton once again Jackie has offered to handle this, time permitting. (We do have a back-up volunteer in the event Jackie can't do it I'm sorry I didn't write down her name). The date will be either June 23rd or in July depending upon availability. You will be notified regarding the specific date and to solicit your teams' participation.
- Rules
Copies of the rules were distributed by Mary V. (thanks Mary). Each team is asked to review the rules with their teammates and please remind them there is no trophy at the end of the season just a good sense of community play (we hope).
- Website
Mickey will contact the Rec Dept to see if we can have a link off of their website. The site will include teams, contact persons, schedule, rain dates, etc.
- Pride March
The Pride March is May 4th. Sara will contact Pride about us having a booth
again this year. Mickey will do up the brochure for distribution. Each team agreed to have one or two people at the booth on the following schedule:
Incorrects: 10:00 - 11:00
Powerhouses or Resolutes: 11:00 - 12:00
Red Scare: 12:00 - 1:00
Visionaries: 1:00 - 2:00
Womonrising: 2:00 - 3:00
No Nukes: 3:00 - 4:00
Resisters: 4:00 - 5:00
*** Powerhouses and Resolutes were 'volunteered' for this timeplease let me
know if you have one or two people who would be willing to fill in for this hour
by emailing me at MzMic@aol.com.
In addition, teams are encouraged to bake something for sale at the booth
anything will do. If each team brings some baked items for there respective hour
we will have plenty for sale!!! Also, individuals are encouraged to bring
appropriate items for resale at the booth.
- Announcements
Extra balls: Lacey of Valley Thunder has extras. Sheryl is going to email teams regarding how many balls are remaining stay tuned. (Thanks Sheryl for following up on this.)
Also, there is a Spelling Bee contest scheduled for April 10th, 7:00pm at JFK School. Why do you need to know this??? Because Red Scare will be participating!!! Please go and support them.
- Umpires
Cathy Black will be offering once again the umpire clinicit will be held at Look Park on Sunday, May 19th from 12:00 - 4:00. Teams are asked to come for the afternoon (1:00 - 4:00) to scrimmage other teams. It is important you encourage your team to come so umps can get some practice! Also, please encourage anyone interested in umpiring to attend!!!
The ump fee this year is $35.00 per game.
General Information
You must call the Northampton Rec to schedule fields for practice: Chris @ 587-1040 and be sure to pick up your slip before the practice!!!
In the event of rain you can call the Northampton Rec after 4:30 to see if the field is too wet for play: Call 587-1044 for the recording.
