The Pre-Veterinary & Animal Science Club

The primary goal of the Animal Science Club (also called the Pre-Vet Club) is the development of camaraderie among animal science majors with emphasis upon making new students feel welcome.

Members attain both organizational and managerial skills through planned activities. The Club activities are diverse, ranging from career development to simple group enjoyment. Recent lectures sponsored by the Animal Science Club include Barefoot Performance Trimming, Equine Ambulances, Use of Myotherapy, Pet Communicators, and a lecture from Dr. Novak about her work with rhesus monkeys here on campus. We also take trips to the Big E, the Equine Affaire Show, the dog agility show at MHC Equine Centre, and we plan local trail-riding outings.

Community relations on and off campus are important to the Club's goals, and the Club maintains an emphasis on giving back to the community. Our recent activities in this arena include a can drive to raise money for cat pack adoptions, Spay Days, a rabies clinic, and pet visits to local nursing homes.
