UMASS DRESSAGE TEAM - Off to National Championship Finals

Just want to up date you all on the recent successes of the UMass
Dressage Team! On the weekend of April 4th & 5th  we hosted seven
schools from New England and Canada for our region's last shows of the
season. The quality of our horses and facilities allows us to host two
shows, back to back on Saturday and Sunday.  While it did take a
tremendous effort to organize and prepare, our shows are considered to
have best trained trained horses with a beautiful facility.  Our region,
along with the region in Southeast are the largest and most competitive
in the Intercollegiate Dressage Association.  The IDA will be having its
8th National championship at Findlay College in Ohio April 17-19.  UMass
has qualified to compete as team for the 4th year in a row!  Two riders
have also qualified to compete as individuals.  To sharpen up and
prepare the team I have organized a clinic with Verne Batchelder at the
Hadley Farm.  Verne is well regarded dressage clinician in New England
and Florida.  He also donated a Hanoverian mare to our breeding program
last year.  Additionally, thanks to their Drill Team performances at the
fall NEDA events the UMass Dressage Team has many fans and supporters in
the area.  Horse owners have allowed the team members to ride their
private horses so that girls can gain experience on all types of horses.
We will be leaving this Thursday, the competition will be held on
Saturday and Sunday.  Please wish us luck!
