Donkeys at UMASS Hadley Farm in Amherst

* The Hadley Farm is 131-acre farm adjacent to campus it provides one of the finest collegiate animal facilities in the country. It includes an array of animals including Boer goats, Dorset sheep, Morgan horses, alpacas, and miniature donkeys. This developing program would focus on all different aspects of the lives of the donkeys worldwide.

* The goal for the University of Massachusetts Amherst International Donkey Consortium is to improve the health care of the world's most important work animal and thereby the lifestyle of the people who depend on them. Our ambitions for the future would be to focus on these three main criteria. We would like to raise awareness of health issues in the species and show the importance of their existence still exists for millions of people. By raising awareness of the importance to improve health longevity it shines a light on third world countries who have long sat in the shadows of world expansion. Finally, one of our main goals would be research in reproduction, especially to help improve genetics in African population.
