25 years as Facility Manager/Instructor at University of New Hampshire Equine Program.

Academic Instruction:
There is such a tremendous amount of information relevant to the appropriate management of horses involved in sport, as well as management of facilities.  My goal is to present the information in a way that students understand, not just the way to do things, but the why.  To have enough information to make excellent decisions, and to have the confidence in making those decisions, is a critical component in our teaching program.  This gives a student the base, and interest, to continue learning throughout their career.

I am very excited to continue my career at UMass after leaving UNH.  The UMass Hadley Farm has tremendous teaching potential.  The farm is very close to the main Amherst campus, and has the capacity to involve students in many facets of equine management, including pasture management and rotational grazing.  The equine breeding lab here at the Hadley Farm also involves students with numerous clients and their horses.  Experience with stallion handling and artificial Insemination, as well as foaling and young horse handling, are all skills many employers are looking for within this industry.
