UMass Amherst UWW Degree Requirements
Every degree awarded by the University Without Walls fulfills requirements established by the University of Massachusetts Amherst for all students and by UWW specifically for its students.
University of Massachusetts Amherst Graduation Requirements
To graduate, all students must have:
- earned 120 credits, of which 45 must be earned from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Up to 75 credits may be transferred in from other schools, through CLEP tests, or by special transcript evaluation provided that each course grade is a 2.0 or better
- earned at least fifteen UMass Amherst credits after entering UWW
- achieved a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average
- completed a major, or area of concentration, to give depth to their studies
- completed all general education requirements
University Without Walls Requirements
In addition to the University of Massachusetts Amherst requirements listed above, all UWW areas of concentration must be approved by UWW and must include:
- the UWW courses required by each UWW program;
- a minimum of 5 upper-level courses numbered 300 or above, equaling 15 credits;
- additional credited learning experiences to total a minimum of 45 credits, including related courses, portfolio credits, independent projects, internships, special transcript credits, or CLEP exams.
