UWW's Lisa Fontes quoted in CNN story on Penn State sex abuse scandal

UMass UWW faculty member and international child abuse expert Lisa Fontes was quoted extensively in a CNN piece on the Penn State child sex abuse scandal entitled "Child-protection laws under scrutiny in wake of scandals." Fontes discusses Pennsylvania's weak mandated reporting laws, and stresses the important role such laws have in protecting children from abuse. "Mandatory reporting is not the be all, end all of preventing child abuse, but it certainly is an important part of making authorities aware of children at risk," Fontes said.
