MA Secretary of Education visits UWW
Massachusetts Secretary of Education Paul Reville visited the University Without Walls on Tuesday, November 20 to see firsthand how innovations in technology and online learning are opening doors for adult students living and working in the commonwealth. The Secretary's visit was one stop on his state-wide tour aimed at gathering information on best practices in educational technology in k-12 and higher education settings.
During the visit, Secretary Reville met with UWW Director Ingrid Bracey who gave the Secretary an overview of the UWW model; Kyle Stephanie Kraus, Instructional Designer and Trainer with E-learning who provided the Secretary with an overview of Blackboard Learn; Nutrition Professor Patricia Beffa-Nagrini and Geo-sciences doctoral candidate and instructor Sean Fitzgerald who showed the Secretary how they teach using Blackboard Learn; and UWW students Audley Robinson and Joe Garland who gave the Secretary a tour of their online courses, focusing on the individualized degree-planning and prior-learning, portfolio writing processes.
"It was truly an honor to host Secretary Reville and to have the opportunity to share with him UWW's innovative educational model," stated Bracey.
