“What better career to have than one helping non- traditional students gain their bachelor’s degrees.”

~ Joan Iwanicki

joan iwanicki, office manager

Joan Iwanicki graduated with honors with her Associate’s degree in Office Management in 2015 at the age of 49. As a young adult she enrolled in cosmetology school, took some business courses at a community college, and later attended nursing school, not finishing any one path.

After raising five children in a blended family, acquiring skills she could never have learned through school, Joan went on to work in banking before joining UWW as office manager.

She does not believe that anyone should put limits on their education because of their age whether it means you are too young or too old. Wolfgang Mozart taught himself to play the harpsichord before he turned 5, Pablo Picasso completed his masterpiece Guernica in his 50's, Mother Teresa worked as a missionary well past her 60's, and John Glenn went into space in his 70’s.

Joan plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree with a focus in Business through UWW, and may even go on for her master’s degree.

Her mother was her biggest inspiration in life. She was the ultimate optimist and instilled that quality in her to which she is very grateful.
