Donna provides pre-admission and transfer counseling to University Without Walls prospective students, advising on admission criteria, applicability of transfer coursework and other UMass Amherst undergraduate degree requirements. She conducts information sessions as well as recruites for UWW at area community colleges, businesses and organizations.
Donna's personal experience as an adult learner informs her work at UWW, and she is inspired every single day by the adults she advises. One of six children, Donna's parents could not afford to send her to college, but she didn't let that stop her. She took one class at a time for over a decade, all the while getting married, raising children and working full-time. After seventeen years, her hard work and perseverence paid off, and she graduated at the age of 35 with her bachelor's degree in business administration.
After six years of working full-time and raising her family - again, and taking one class at a time, she completed her master's degree in education at the age of 53. A strong believer in the importance of religious literacy, she earned a 4 year certificate in Education for Ministry that required an intensive study of Christian scripture, history and philosophy.
Prior to joining UWW, Donna held other positions at UMass Amherst and worked for the MassMutual Life Insurance Company in Springfield, Massachusetts.
