Information Sessions

Are UWW students eligible for financial aid?

Yes! UWW students are eligible for financial aid if they meet the same requirements applied to all UMass Amherst students. Over 50% of UMass Amherst students receive a financial aid award. Many who believe their higher income would make them ineligible find that they are eligible for cost-effective loans when they apply for aid. Learn more…

A Quick Summary of UWW Features:

Before downloading the UMass Amherst UWW application, please review this summary to be sure you understand completely the UWW features and requirements:

  • You will be required to complete all University of Massachusetts Amherst requirements related to residency credits, grade point average, graded credits, and general education.
  • You may transfer in no more than 75 of the 120 credits required for graduation.
  • An allowable transfer course must show a grade of C- (2.00) or better.
  • Depending on the program you select, you will be required to take three to four UWW core courses as part of your degree program, usually during the first semesters.
  • You will have an opportunity to earn residency credit for experiential learning by submitting a prior learning portfolio (usually submitted at the end of the second semester).
  • You will submit a plan for an area of concentration to be approved by a UWW review team and a UMass faculty member from your field of study.
  • You may include independent learning projects, when appropriate, to supplement courses in your field of study.

You may also download forms to use in requesting official transcripts from colleges attended. Some colleges make it possible to order transcripts through their web sites, often assuring faster transmission. In requesting transcripts, be sure to order official transcripts to be sent to:

Did you apply to UWW before but were not accepted or did not enroll? If reapplying within two semesters of an original application, the applicant needs to submit only a new application form, fee, and official transcripts reflecting any courses that were completed since the previous application. Continuing & Professional Education degree programs do not defer enrollment after acceptances, so all applicants who had been accepted previously but did not enroll must reapply using the application link above.

Were you a previous UWW student in the day division and are now seeking to re-enter through Continuing & Professional Education? The same requirements apply as for previous applicants who did not enroll after acceptance: the application form, the fee, and official transcripts taken outside UMass since being previously active in UWW.
