Time to register--beginning July 23!

Registration in Continuing & Professional Education for fall 2008 courses opens on July 23. As a new student in the UWW Individualized program, you will be expected to register for UWW 191G Frameworks of Understanding and one of the "reflections" courses during the first semester. (Listing of first-semester course sections.)

To register, go to http://www.umassulearn.net/ and look for fall 2008 courses, then University Without Walls department. You can select the option to be billed in September to allow more time for financial aid or other financial aid arrangements.

Late receiving acceptance packet?

Some of you may be receiving acceptance or decision letters late into July, though your Intent to Enroll form (prepared earlier) may give a July 7 or 15 deadline. Whatever the deadline indicated on the form, return the form right away so that you can be matriculated as a degree student. Matriculation allows you to register as a UWW student and triggers the mailing of your SPIRE account information. With SPIRE you can track your registration and billing, as well as your financial aid status and grades.

We apologize for the delays. The admissions office at UMass is especially short-staffed this semester.

What's next after the acceptance letter?

NEXT STEPS:

You've just been admitted and you want to know if you need to do anything next, right? Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Check your acceptance letter to note which UWW program (Individualized Degree or Educator Licensure) you have been admitted to.
  • Before doing anything else, send in your Intent to Enroll form (included in the acceptance packet) and enrollment fee so that you can be matriculated on the UMass system as a UWW degree student.
  • Put your New Student Orientation date (see the schedule) on your calendar.
  • If you intend to apply for financial aid and haven't done so yet, do so right away. Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) online as soon as possible to avoid delays. Until that application has been submitted, the financial aid office cannot create your aid package.
  • For questions about enrollment in fall courses beyond the two required UWW courses, see the pre-semester advising notice on the new students page.

If you have other questions not answered on our web site or in this new student blog, call or e-mail our office at 413-545-1378 or uww@uww.umass.edu. We'll do our best to help you out as quickly as possible.
