Advice on what not to do when venturing out on your own in the business
world: Don't do it without a concise plan that you can stick to. Don't do
it without a definite amount of money to back you up. Don't do it
completely on your own. Don't just imagine having customers.
In more positive terms: Do have a specific financial backing and a
specific plan of action. If you have a partner, at least someone who can
give you moral support, it takes away from the loneliness of having your
own business. I found it to be a very lonely enterprise. If you have a
partner to bounce ideas and plans off of, it helps keep you motivated and
on-task. Do have a customer base before you go into production--take
orders if possible.
