By far, one of the most difficult pieces of a home-based business is motivation. There is always a load of laundry to do, a bill to pay, dishes, your favorite show is on, etc. The importance of setting aside a block of time during each day to work can't be stressed enough. Set up a to-do list or an agenda for every day or every week. Try keeping a log of time spent on each project or time spent for each client. Buy yourself a large, elaborate calendar and keep track of everything that you do. Set realistic goals for yourself and you'll be successful.

Something perhaps as important as motivation is change. Be prepared to always change. Don't be afraid to make changes. Do research into your competition as much as you can and note changes that they are making. Look for ways to do things more efficiently. If you've resisted using your computer to help your business along, go ahead and take that Windows class that you've seen offered. Buy that accounting program that a friend told you about. The bottom line is that if you feel you could do more to increase your business then it's up to you to figure out what is needed.
