Creative Communications

We offer a wide range of services, and will work closely with you, the client, to find out exactly who you are, what you do, and how we can help meet your communication needs.

We help develop and support the University-approved Standards for Visual and Graphic Identity. So your final product, whether a brochure, invitation, or anything else, will uniquely meet your needs while also contributing to a consistent and polished presentation of UMass Amherst.

Print Graphic Design

Our award-winning designers take the message you need to convey and translate it into a compelling and competitive graphic design. We design across the entire array, from formal to edgy, and for any audience.

Writing and Editing

We offer a wide spectrum of writing and editing services, from the snappy invitation to the annual report. Some of our of clients do their own writing, or at least take a first stab at it. We're happy to work on those terms (and to help out with any pointers on grammar or usage you may need). If you feel that your first draft could use polishing, that's fine too; we'll look it over, make suggestions, and work with you to make sure you're completely pleased with the final result.

Photography

We manage UMass Amherst Stock Images, a vast collection of color and black-and-white photographic images available at no charge for use in University publications, web sites, displays, and presentations. The images show students, faculty, alumni, and administrators in a wide variety of settings, as well as document events, campus buildings and grounds, and classroom scenes. On a limited basis, Creative Communications also offers custom-ordered assignment photography.

Print Production Management

We oversee the production of hundreds of print publications every year. We'd be glad to put that knowledge and expertise to work for you. We can especially help with the preparation of non-contract printing bids. Through thorough, comparative analysis of bid returns on contracts for printing and related services, we ensure that the University and the Commonwealth get the best possible value for their money.

University Relations ensures that the UMass Amherst Visual Identity and Editorial Guides are used when presenting the campus. It is an essential tool to help all of us communicate a consistent and compelling image of who we are and what we do. Properly applied, our Visual Identity and Editorial Guidelines provide a professional frame for your work: by association, you are part of a premier national research institution. At the same time, your great work enhances a stronger image of the University.
