| Founded in 1993, the UMass-Simmons School Health Institute is committed
to improving the capability of school health personnel to deliver comprehensive
health and human services to children and adolescents in educational settings
and to assure that children in the Commonwealth will be more resilient,
healthy and ready to learn.
The Institute offers professional development programs to Massachusetts
school personnel. These programs are partially funded by monies from the
Tobacco Control Programs administered by the School Health Unit at the
Massachusetts Department of Public Health. This is a collaborative venture
of educators from nursing schools at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth,
University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of Massachusetts Lowell
and Simmons College.
