The University of Massachusetts Press, a well-established and award winning publisher of scholarly and trade books, is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and experienced production editor to oversee our copyediting process and to serve as the Press’s liaison to freelance copyeditors and authors. The ideal candidate will be able to juggle multiple projects and communicate clearly and tactfully with diverse stakeholders.
This individual will report directly to the Editorial, Design and Production Manager and will be responsible for project management of all manuscripts in the editing process.
A Bachelor’s degree in English or related field with 3 years of experience editing for a scholarly or trade publisher.
Excellent writing, communication, and project management skills.
Demonstrable mastery of English grammar, syntax, and diction as well as firm grasp of The Chicago Manual of Style.
High proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and HTML preferred.
