May 23rd is National 'Stop the Bleed' Day! The Stop the Bleed campaign will teach you the basics of recognizing a severe bleed, getting help, and controlling bleeding immediately using simple tools and skills that you can master in less than 90 minutes! These skills are for anyone who encounters a construction accident, motor vehicle crash, or other emergency where someone may suffer a serious bleed. Please join us on our first Western MA Stop the Bleed Day. Training is free! This training will be offered at Umass PD @ noon and 5:30pm. Training will be 1 to 1 1/2 hours in length and will teach you the basics in controlling serious bleeding through the use of direct pressure, tourniquets, and hemostatic dressings. Preregistraion is required and can be done via email to Officer Brian Kellogg at firstname.lastname@example.org or via phone at 413-545-0196.
