Page Titles
The page title displays in the border of each Web page and is an additional way to identity your site. It also helps to make the site identifiable in Google and other search engine results.
The page title should say "UMass Amherst: Your Department or Office Name" or "University of Massachusetts Amherst Your Department or Office Name"
For example:

To create a page title, edit the <title> attribute in the code for your Web pages. In the above example of the Biology Department Web site, this code is:
<title>UMass Amherst: Biology Department</title>
Many web development applications have a shortcut to make this task easier.
- Titles should contain no more than 66 characters, to take full advantage of Google's display capabilities.
- We recommend putting the name "UMass Amherst" or "University of Massachusetts Amherst" in the title tag to make it easier for people who are searching for UMass-specific departments to find your site through search engines.
