Lecture: "The Author is a DJ: Thomas Meinecke's Trouble with 'Gender Trouble'"

The Department of German and Scandinavian Studies is pleased to present a lecture by UMass alumna, Dr. Florence Feiereisen '07 PhD, Assistant Professor of German at Middlebury College.

Dr. Feiereisen's talk will examine questions of identity, which have become increasingly relevant in recent years, especially ideas of sampling, mixing, creation, and authorship. The lecture will use cultural products by German author Thomas Meinecke and theoretical concepts of Judith Butler to problematize identity construction.

Hosting the lecture will be Professor Kyle Frackman's graduate seminar, German 697E: Enlightenment 2.0. This event is sponsored by German and Scandinavian Studies.
