Dinner On Us: Workshops for Families with Infants and Young Children

"Dinner On Us" is a weekly roundtable discussion series for families with young children, ages birth to five. This week's session, "Family Yoga," features yoga instructor and early childhood educator Lucy Gertz. Gertz will share basic yoga techniques for soothing children and calming caretakers (loose clothing recommended for all).

Lucy Gertz's approach to kids' yoga emphasizes the union of body, mind, and breath. Gertz is a graduate of the embodyoga teacher training and a student of locally-based Patty Townsend since 1996. She has worked with children in public school, after-school, and early intervention programs. She is strongly influenced by the developmental patterns presented by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen’s "Body-Mind Centering" approach as a method to promote the integration of the child’s nervous system. In addition to teaching yoga to children, Gertz works with autistic toddlers and is developing a parent coaching practice.

"Dinner On Us" occurs on Monday evenings during the academic year. Sessions are free and include dinner, supervised children's activities, and parking. The evening schedule is as follows:

Family Dinner: 5:15-5:45pm

Supervised Children’s Activities: 5:45-7:30pm

Roundtable Discussion: 6:00-7:30pm
