NCAA Tournament: Softball vs. Cornell
For the fourth-straight year, UMass is hosting a NCAA Softball Regional, where the #24/20 Minutewomen will welcome to Amherst the #3 overall seed Washington, Cornell, and Sacred Heart. For the first time ever, night games will be played at the UMass Softball Complex. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased in advance by calling 866-UMASS-TIX.
The action kicks off on Friday at 5 p.m. when the #3 Huskies take on the NEC champ Sacred Heart Pioneers. Atlantic 10 champion UMass will play Ivy league champ Cornell at 7:30 p.m.
The winners of Friday's games will meet at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The losers from games one and two will meet at 5:00 p.m., with that game's winner taking on the 2:30 game's winner in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
That will set up the Regional Final to be played on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. with a 7:30 game if necessary. The winner of the Amherst Regional will move on to next week's Super Regional, where they will play for the right to be one of the eight teams to advance to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, May 28-June 3.
