Lecture: "Justice in the Air"

"Justice in the Air: Tracking Toxic Pollution from America's Industries and Companies to Our States, Cities, and Neighborhoods" is an important new contribution to the literature on environmental justice, documenting the health impacts and corporate sources of air pollution on communities throughout the United States.

Michael Ash, Associate Professor of Economics and Public Policy, is co-author of this publication with James Boyce (Economics and PERI), Grace Chang (PhD candidate, Economics), and Professor Manuel Pastor (PhD, UMass Amherst), Justin Scoggins, and Jennifer Tran, all of the University of Southern California.

Ash will discuss the major findings of the publication and its recommendations for protecting the health of low-income and other communities impacted by air pollution.

The study is an outgrowth of the Corporate Toxics Information Project, sponsored by the Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) at UMass Amherst. Ash is a professor at the Center for Public Policy and Administration, which is hosting the talk.

The lecture is free and open to the public, and attendees are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch.
