Fashion for Life

This is a spring/summer '09 fashion show emphasizing the trendy, inexpensive, and quality secondhand clothing available at the Fisher Home Hospice Shop, located at 55 University Drive.

The show will echo spring/summer '09 trends from the runways such as wild animal prints, vibrant colors, and floral prints. All looks will be presented in a unique ready-to-wear street style that fits the lifestyle of female college students.

The Fisher Home Hospice Shop already has some Five College student devotees, but this show will be an opportunity to increase student traffic in the shop. "I bought my favorite belt that I always wear for $2 at the Fisher Hospice Shop. It's a vintage camel-colored leather braided belt. As a college student I'm always strapped for cash and I find really unique items at the shop," says Stephanie Crabtree, a senior finance major at UMass.

Tickets are $2 each and are available at the Fisher Home Hospice Shop, as well as at the door starting at 6:30 p.m. on May 7. All profits will benefit Hospice of the Fisher Home, a nonprofit located in Amherst.

The local community on and off campus has already shown significant support. DJ Justin Wan (UMass '09) has offered to spin for free. Hair stylists from local salons are donating their time to style the hair of the models. The models have agreed to strut their stuff for the pure thrill of the spotlight and the chance to help a great local nonprofit. The show will be sponsored by Prep Cosmetics, Collective Copies, and the footwear designer Linda Pritcher.
