"Be The One" Memorial Benefit Concert

"Be The One" is a benefit concert and creative art project in memory of Darby Fassett.

A member of the UMass class of 2009, Darby died last spring of an accidental drug overdose. Now his family, friends, and the university community are coming together to raise awareness of student stress and substance abuse.

The concert lineup includes:

• Guitarist Ben Renda
• 4-Bee's-B-4, with old-school roots, rock and reggae
• Alt-rockers Bunny's a Swine
• Crescent Hill Band, blending punk and experimental sounds
• Area drama innovators Peripitus Theater Company
• Rap and funk with Doctors of Flight
• DPR Sound, combining reggae, groove rock and ska

Get tickets online from the Fine Arts Center box office; by phone, at (413) 255-1087 or toll-free at (800) 999-2657; or at the door beginning one hour prior to showtime. Proceeds will benefit substance abuse prevention initiatives through the university's Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention.

Beginning April 28, students are encouraged to create artworks expressing their feelings about grief, loss, memory, hope, and recovery at stations in the Campus Center Concourse or in the Craft Center. Works will be displayed at the concert and in public spaces across campus.
