Celebration of Writing: Writing the Future Now

The Writing Program is holding its 4th annual Celebration of Writing. This event will showcase the work done by students enrolled in the first-year writing courses (111, 112), the experimental writing workshop series, and the junior year writing courses. It is one of the few events on campus where writing by undergraduates is honored.

The day will feature displays and readings of student work. Exhibits will include academic essay magazines, collaborative book projects, digital stories, graphic novels, creative documentaries, and more. The festival will include an awards ceremony honoring the winners of this year's Best Text winners for Basic Writing, College Writing, and Junior-Year Writing, and the writers selected for the 2009-10 Student Writing Anthology. Also honored will be the newest members of the Writing Center staff; these students have completed a year-long tutoring course. Claudia Ricci, Huffington Post bloggist, award-winning journalist, and author of Dreaming Maples, will be the keynote speaker.
