Lecture: Russell Shorto
Russell Shorto will speak on the Dutch colonization of Manhattan and the Hudson River Valley and its impact on American history. Mr. Shorto, a contributing writer for the New York Times Magazine, is the author of several books, including The Island at the Center of the World and Descartes' Bones: A Skeletal History of the Conflict between Faith and Reason. This March 2-5, he is the visiting Writer/Historian-in-Residence for the UMass/Five College Graduate Program in History.
