Mumbai Tragedy: A Prayer Service and Candlelight Vigil
Our heart goes out to those 200 who lost their lives and the billions whose lives and thoughts have been affected by the dastardly act of terror in the Mayanagri Mumbai. In the wake of these events in Mumbai, the UMass Indian Students Association, in association with Bharat Votes, invites all to a prayer of peace for the families of the victims of this attack. We strongly condemn such cowardly acts and are united in our stance to oppose such coldblooded murders.
The prayer service is our small way of showing solidarity with our people back home. It will be a short (30-45 minute) ceremony which will include a few speakers. If anyone wishes to share his thoughts, please let us know.
We do understand that with the semester approaching its end, everyone is busy with their projects and exams. However, a half-hour prayer service to show our support to the victims and their families is a noble gesture that we all should take part in. We are working with the UMass authorities to get a permit for a candlelight vigil and hope to get it through. If it works out, then the prayer service will also include a candlelight vigil.
