Support for Qualitative Research: Introducing QDAP-UMass
Dr. Stuart W. Shulman (Ph.D., University of Oregon, Political Science) is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at UMass Amherst as well as Director of QDAP-UMass, Associate Director of the National Center for Digital Government, and a Senior Research Associate at the University of Pittsburgh's University Center for Social and Urban Research (UCSUR). He has been the Principal Investigator and Project Director for several NSF-funded research projects related to electronic rulemaking, human language technologies, manual annotation, digital citizenship, and service-learning efforts in the United States. He is currently editor of the international Journal of Information Technology and Politics, and is co-organizer for a national conference to be held at UMass Amherst on April 3-4, 2009, "YouTube and the 2008 Election Cycle in the United States."
His talk will describe QDAP, its development, and its utilities for the behavioral, computational, and social sciences.
