Speak-Out Against the War on Afghanistan
With the "war on terror" shifting to Afghanistan, it is vital for the anti-war movement to take up opposition and expose the realities of this occupation. We believe that money should be spent on College Not Combat!
The Campus Antiwar Network has called a national day of action against the war on Afghanistan on November 13. Join us in demanding an end to this occupation.
Western Massachusetts CAN will have a speak-out, followed by a student die-in. Come join the struggle to demand that the 3 trillion dollars that has been spent on war and occupation be redirected towards education, providing veterans with the health care and benefits they deserve, and giving economic reparations to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Why is the U.S. really interested in Central Asia? Even though Afghanistan has been essentially sidelined in the mainstream media, the U.S. has been engaging in large-scale bombings of the country, which has had profound effects on the civilian population there. Now it is proposing that thousands of additional troops be sent there in the name of "stabilization" and "democracy."
In a time of economic crisis and a shift in foreign policy it is time to arm ourselves with the realities of this occupation.
The Campus Antiwar Network is a national, independent, democratic, grassroots network of students who actively oppose the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, who fight for veterans rights and benefits, and who demand reparations be paid to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. CAN is committed to building a movement that opposes all forms of racism, Islamophobia, sexism, and homophobia.
Western Massachusetts CAN meets weekly. To find out meeting times, or for more info, email us at wma.antiwar@yahoo.com.
