SMART Recovery Self-Help Meeting
A new SMART Recovery free self-help group will be meeting every Wednesday. Lili Landrau, a UWW student, will be the volunteer facilitating the meetings.
A national self-help organization, SMART Recovery® is based on the principles of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), developed by Albert Ellis, Ph.D. (1913-2007) in the 1950s, and on cognitive behavioral theories. REBT is a widely accepted form of therapy, used by professionals worldwide.
SMART Recovery is an abstinence-based group in which REBT and other sobriety skills are learned to recover from alcohol, drug and other addictive activities, offering support and discussions on dependency-related topics.
SMART Recovery respects all forms of solutions, from whatever source, and supports personal responsibility and personal choice.
These meetings are limited to UMass students, staff, and family members.
