Student Health Advisory Board Meeting
Make a difference in the health care programs, practices and polices that affect you and all UMass Amherst students – join the Student Health Advisory Board (SHAB).
SHAB is the officially recognized voice of the student body at University Health Services, and it is open to all students who have paid the semester's Student Health Fee.
Members provide input into programs, staff recruitment, the Student Health Trust Fund, and supplemental health benefits program, and raise awareness of health issues. Committees offer opportunities to focus on special topics including consumer feedback, transportation and marketing.
Here's some more of what we're doing:
- In Case of Emergency (ICE), a program urging that emergency contacts be listed in cellular phone books under the ICE acronym for easy access by medical and rescue personnel
- A Health Careers Information Fair, linking students with health care professionals for real-world information
- Great American Smokeout participation
- Organ and tissue donation awareness campaigns
- Health care proxy information efforts
- Attendance at American College Health Association conferences
