Lecture: True Adventures of a Policy Analyst in the Culture War

As part of CPPA's annual Faculty Colloquium Series, M.V. Lee Badgett will offer the talk, "True Adventures of a Policy Analyst in the Culture War: Going Up Against the Gubernator, Sarah Palin, and the National Review on Gay Marriage."

Badgett (PhD, Economics, UC Berkeley) is the director of CPPA and Professor of Economics at UMass. She also serves as Research Director at the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law & Public Policy at UCLA’s School of Law. Her research on the economic characteristics of same-sex couples played an important role in the landmark decision concerning equal marriage in California, and she has testified before Congress about federal legislation to end discrimination based on sexual orientation. Books by Badgett include Money, Myths and Change: The Economic Lives of Lesbians and Gay Men, and a forthcoming book in 2009 on gay marriage in Europe and the US.
