UMass Amherst's First Annual Guitar Hero Tournament - Sponsored By RedOctane
In partnership with RedOctane, Iota Gamma Upsilon is hosting UMass Amherst's first annual Guitar Hero tournament.
It is open to anyone and everyone is encouraged to participate. RedOctane will be supplying awesome prizes for those who do well, and there will be many raffles as well.
This is a philanthropic event which will benefit the Baystate Children's Hospital. Because of this, we are charging a small entry fee of $5 per participant.
The format for the tournament will be as follows:
There will four different groups (Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert). All four groups will partake in the same rounds, but on the level of Guitar Hero to which their group corresponds (ex. easy will play all the rounds on easy, hard on hard etc.).
The rounds will go as following:
Round 1: Each player will play a song (picked out of a hat) against someone else. In order to move on to the next round the players must score 85% or above.
Round 2: Each player will play a song (picked out of a hat) against someone else. In order to move on to the next round the players must score 95% or above.
Round 3 - Final Round: The players from each level who are still in the tournament will be placed into brackets. They will play a song (picked out of a hat) against someone else and the winner will move on. These brackets will continue until we have a final round of two players for each level, which will then determine the winner.
