Women of Color Leadership Circle

The Leadership Circle brings together women of color student leaders and emerging leaders to engage in authentic dialogue relative to opportunities and challenges women of color face in college and in the workplace. Our purpose is to exchange ideas and share best practices to promote multicultural leadership. Because women of color student leaders take care of academics, leadership and personal demands, strategies for self-care and creating balance will also be shared.

Why is it important to have a Leadership Circle for women of color? As women of color increasingly lead alongside men and white women in the workplace, it is critical to have a dedicated forum where women of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds can engage in authentic dialogue and discuss leadership strategies to build productive, affirming and prosperous learning and work environments.

Who is a woman of color? The WOCLN uses "woman of color" as an empowerment term for women who identify as African American/black, Latina, Asian/Pacific Islander, South Asian, Native American, Middle Eastern, Caribbean, those who are biracial or multiracial, and indigenous women. Students who identify as a woman of color or with any of the groups above and are in leadership positions or thinking about assuming one are encouraged to attend.
