Bone Marrow Registration Drive
The UMass Student Nurses Association hosts a Bone Marrow Registration Drive. We ask that you help support this important event. The drive is being promoted for Sam Cross, a 21 year old Harvard Senior who was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) in December 2006. Sam is currently undergoing chemotherapy, but a final cure may require a bone marrow transplant. He is part-Korean and part-Caucasian, and this makes finding a matched donor extremely difficult. For Sam, of the more than 7 million donors registered internationally so far, none are an exact match for him. He is most likely to find a match with a part-Asian part-Caucasian donor, but donors of ALL ethnicities are urgently needed. Registration is easy and painless, and involves only filling out a brief form and taking a simple cheek swab. Please help save Sam and patients like him!
