Real Women Have Curves is a film about women and bodies, about mothers and daughters, and about the ways class and work can impact the body and psyche. It won the Audience Award and a Special Jury Prize at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. Real Women Have Curves portrays a Latino family in a rich, vibrant manner with three-dimensional, fully developed characters and true-to-life situations. At its heart, Real Women Have Curves is about generational culture clash, familial relationships and expectations, and images of body and beauty.
