Bil'in: Village of Resistance

International activists discuss non-violent struggles against the wall and settlements in the occupied territories. This lecture features Palestinian Activist Rateb Abu Rahma- Lecturer at Al-Quds open university and member of the popular committee against the wall in Bil'in and Israeli Activist Kobi Snitz- Lecturer at Bar Ilan University and member of Anarchists Against the Wall.

The separation wall being built by the Israeli government cuts deep inside the West Bank and the Green Line, annexing Palestinian land in order to build or maintain illegal settlements. Bil’in is a small agricultural village in the West Bank, located just east of the Green Line – just one of the many villages being affected by the construction of the wall. In 2004 the residents of Bil’in started protesting against the construction of this part of the wall and were later joined by Israeli and International activists. They have been protesting peacefully for the past three years, often faced with teargas, rubber-coated steel bullets, and clubs. Recently, the village's persistent struggle proved successful when it won a stunning achievement in the Israeli high court which will force the Israeli army to redraw the wall away from the agricultural lands of the village.

Refreshments will be served.

This event is sponsored by the Palestine Action Coalition (PAC), Faculty for Israeli-Palestinian Peace (FFIPP), and the Arab Student Club (ASC).
