UMass Spring Recess: Gulf Coast 2008 Information Session
Learn about this curricular Spring Recess trip designed to allow for each participating student to engage in his or her own research project, connecting academic interests to the needs of the Gulf Coast. Students have the ability to formulate their own specific research topic, to ask sponsorship of the professor of their choice, and to decide the number of credits they wish to receive depending on the size of their project. The research will be done at UMass throughout the Spring Semester to the knowledge base surrounding the effects of the 2005 hurricane season. In addition, the hands-on service trip to the Gulf Coast gives the participants a chance take part in the physical rebuilding of the areas that are still left in disrepair.
