Seminar: Development of Cellulosic Biofuels
Dr. Christopher Somerville, Director of the Carnegie Institution Department of Plant Biology and a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Stanford University, will be presenting the Fall 2007 Nordin Lecture entitled “Development of Cellulosic Biofuels,” hosted by the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Department. His current research is focused on the characterization of proteins that take part in plant cell wall synthesis. Somerville has published numerous scientific papers in the areas of plant and microbial genetics, genomics, biochemistry, and biotechnology and has received the Balzan Award, Mendel Medal and Hopkins Medal. He is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and The Royal Society of London.
