Faculty Convocation Preceded by Academic Procession and Carillon Recital

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is holding its Faculty Convocation.

Prior to the event, faculty members and administrators in academic regalia will march in a procession from the lobby of the Fine Arts Center to the auditorium, while the bells of the Chapel will chime during a Carillon recital by George Matthew from 10:15 to 11:15.

Thomas W. Cole Jr., the interim chancellor, will speak and eight nationally acclaimed faculty members will be presented with the Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Research and Creative Activity. They are: John J. Clement, teacher education and curriculum; Eric A. Decker, food science; Walter B. Denny, art; Nancy Folbre, economics; Patty S. Freedson, kinesiology; Jeffrey W. Holmes, music and dance; Sabina Murray, English and James J. Watkins, polymer science and engineering.

A luncheon reception for the honorees follows the convocation.
