"A Ph.D. is Not Enough": Mutual Mentoring

"A Ph.D. Is Not Enough: Mutual Mentoring" will emphasize mentoring. Several exciting workshops and activities have been organized throughout the day, including panels of faculty and students to discuss methods for seeking mentors and their mentoring experiences. We have also scheduled mentoring activities for students and faculty after lunch.

In addition, there will be tutorials on “Making a Great First Impression” by Provost Seymour, “Grant writing” by Lisa Chasan-Taber, “Networking” by Professor Wilmore Webley. For faculty in attendance, the Office of Grants and Contract Administration will present “Tips on Submitting NIH/NSF grants through OGCA".” Additional panels of post-docs and faculty will offer tips on “Passing Your Graduate Requirements” and “Balancing Life: Work and Family.”

This event has been organized by the Graduate Education and Career Development Initiative (GECDI) at UMass Amherst. GECDI is a graduate-student directed organization designed to address the career development and educational needs of graduate students.
