Lecture: "Services Science: a New Opportunity for Operations Research"
Dr. Brenda Dietrich, Director of Mathematical Sciences at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York, will deliver a lecture as part of the Fall 2007 Operations Research / Management Science Seminar series. Her lecture is titled "Services Science: a New Opportunity for Operations Research." All are invited to attend.
As the services industry expands, new opportunities for the application of operations research models are emerging. In this talk, Dr. Dietrich will outline some of the opportunities and discuss some of the challenges of applying traditional operations research approaches, particularly those developed for managing the supply chain, to modeling and managing business services. Some recent IBM projects will be described.
