Special Olympics August Tournament

Amherst area residents, spectators and coaches will experience the spirit of competition and first-rate sporting events at the Special Olympics Massachusetts’ August Tournament beginning Friday, August 11.

Opening Ceremonies take place August 11 at the UMass Amherst Campus Center Concourse.

August Tournament will host over 1,100 athletes competing in bocce, bowling, cycling, fishing, golf and softball. The public is invited to come cheer on athletes during general competition on Saturday and Sunday with free admission to each event.

All sports are offered as traditional and Unified Sports. Unified Sports, pioneered in Massachusetts, brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities of similar age and ability to compete on the same playing field. This program increases opportunities for all athletes involved.
